"Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. But beware of men; for they will hand you over...."
If you do quick Google-search re: "I am a Christian - can I get an abortion?" it's immediately clear that the worldly take on this topic is based on poor, twisted theology and the "following after your own heart."
Sampling of query results and discussion below:
One the first results was an interview with a pastor who held the viewpoint that it is perfectly OK to abort for any reason.
How did she decide that? She said:
“'Our body is a temple of God, and holy,' I see that as I have the right to choices over my body, and the freedom to make the decisions that are right for me."
This is a misrepresentation of the Word of God. Satan used that tactic in the Garden of Eden - and during the temptation of Christ. The pastor being interviewed relied on her own desires & impressions ("I see that as..." "right for me"...) rather than considering the passage in context. She's pretending to be the ultimate authority of truth, rather than God.
TRUTH REVEALED:
The actual passage in 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20 is: "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God with your body."
No wonder she didn't want to quote the whole context!
It is not glorifying to God, nor is it holy, to abort your baby. That is not the kid of freedom we have in Christ. In Christ we have the freedom not to sin.
Next was an abortion center with a typed-up handout they give to Christian women struggling with the decision to carry their baby. Contained in that document (quote):
This is another misleading claim about the Bible.
TRUSTING GOD'S COUNSEL:
God does not contradict Himself. He is not confusing. If you know His Word, it's very hard for people to mislead you.
And REGARDING HELL, given that abortion ends an innocent human life, the Bible has a lot to say. Read among others: Genesis 9:6; Matthew 5:22,
1John 3:15 among others.
Abortion isn't something that's done to you. It's an action a mother takes against the life of her own baby.
The Bible doesn't say there is no forgiveness for those who regret their sin and turn in repentance to Christ and follow in His ways. But this is the truth: ending the life of your pre-born child is not following in His ways ("Let the little children come to Me; do not hinder them").
If you are in Christ - have repented of your sins and sought to follow Him - check yourself. Abortion ends an innocent human life. That is not following in His ways.

" The way I look at it is I have a job to do as a doctor, regardless of my personal feelings about something. It's not my decision, because it's not my pregnancy or my body. Ultimately, the one thing God really granted us above anything else is free will. "
Um.... no. This is an example of putting "self" in the driver's seat ahead of what God has already made known about His will.
What God really granted is the unimaginable opportunity for us to have peace with Him through His Son's atoning work & sacrifice.
When this happens, we - who were previously enemies toward God - have the gift of peace, salvation, and adoption into His family through the Lord Jesus Christ. That means He will help you and be with you through His Holy Spirit. He will hear your prayers and harmonize them according to His will. By His faithfulness, you will grow in qualities that make you more like Christ.
The Bible teaches us that the fear of the Lord (reverent fear & awe) is the beginning of knowledge & of wisdom.
Considering your baby, you need knowledge & wisdom; you need to discern the truth. Don't settle for a twisted belief system which focuses on placing the self above the authority of God. There is only one God. Neither you nor I are Him. But be of good cheer - though the power of Christ, the living God, you can overcome any obstacles of life, and He will give you the power to do what is right.

Quote:
"We Christians do not either allow or disallow abortion, because we do not run governments and we do not make the votes in the legislatures or in the courts. "
Again... no:
The lesser magistrate doctrine applies here.
The "Romans 13" argument about God establishing civil authorities, but then implying our blind obedience to those authorities, is a gross misrepresentation of God's working in the lives of human beings today.
Did the Lord Jesus Christ deal with the hypocrisy of the day, perform miracles, fulfill prophesy, keep the law perfectly, go through the horrors of scourging, nakedness, beating, and death on the cross, satisfy God's judgment against sin, then Rise from the grave -- to LOSE?
To let go of His Authority?
Of course not. He is the King of kings. The rules of God are superior to those of humankind. If the laws of humans contradict the law of God, we have a duty to disregard the errant order, and follow God's command.
Isaiah 33:22
For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our King. It is He who will save us.
